« A customer is only satisfied if the product he or she buys functions and provides the services expected of it”: this is what the young brothers Natan, Marcel and Bernard Darty discovered through contact with their customers. This discovery was to become the foundation of their commercial policy. Therefore, in the months following the company’s creation of in 1957, they offered low prices, rapid delivery and fast repairs. The early years were devoted to learning and putting into practice the golden rules of trade and to growing the family business in Paris and the suburbs.
The Darty brothers, who initially worked in textiles, opened their first sales outlet in Montreuil (93), where they sold radios and television sets.
The second shop opens in Paris, in the Belleville district.
In May, the first large shop (800m˛) specializing in electrical goods opens in Bondy (department 93). The first after-sales service centre is set up.
The Caprofem subsidiary, an electrical goods wholesaler, is established in Pantin (department 93).
